In the story The Necklace, by Guy de Maupassant, the things I liked best were the characters, the setting and the irony.
The story was about an unhappy woman named Madame Louisel and with the great life she was offered. Then she and her husband were invited to a distinguished party. She bought a beautiful dress, but longed for an astonishing piece of jewelry to go along with it. Her friend helped her find that piece of jewelry when she lets her borrow a beautiful diamond necklace. Madame Louisel ends up losing the necklace after the party. She spent the rest of her life paying off the debt of the necklace, instead of revealing the true facts. In the end she realized by her not telling the truth, her life'
