Or could it be the ancient philosophers and scientists whose books and teachings he so devotedly followed that triggered him into entertaining thoughts of creating a living being out of once dead tissue?Could these teachings, which dabbled in the supernatural, have fueled Mr. Frankenstein's natural yet morbid curiosity and belief in ghosts, goblins and devils?He fed his insatiable appetite by reading works commonly known as nonsense by scientists and philosophers of the day, writings and teachings by such authors as Agrippa, Albertus Magnus, and Paracelsus who were considered "cultists", and their teachings taboo back in those days. His own father tried in vain to deter his young impressionable son by enrolling him in classes and lectures of natural philosophy and other more notable teachings.
Never afraid of the dark or of cemeteries and eerie things, Mr. Frankenstein was fascinated by the dark side and supernatural phenomena, often visiting burial places and charnels (or bone yards) in search of bones and decay.
