Flatland is a book about a society that has only two dimensions. There is no depth in Flatland, and all people are represented as flat geometric shapes. Societies generally have five main characteristics. These characteristics are a stable food supply, specialization of labor, a system of government, social levels, and a highly developed culture that includes art, architecture, religion, music, and law.In Flatland there are many examples of these characteristics.
