Citizen Kane is one of the greatest and most highly acclaimed movies in American filmmaking history. It was produced in 1941 near the beginning of the age of "talking" movies. The movie is set in the early 1940's and reflects much of the social and political climate of the times. The movie begins with a young Charles Kane playing in the snow with his sled while his parents discuss his future inside. Kane's mother has just come into a windfall inheritance and decides to send Charles off to New York to prepare him for his life as a millionaire. Little does he know that he will never again see his parents or childhood. As the movie unfolds we see Kane grown into a man, investing in a newspaper company, and becoming one of the richest men the world has ever seen. Along the way he makes far more enemies than friends and becomes dejected and disillusioned as he grows older.
