Is a woman stronger than a man? Under any circumstances, should men take orders from women? These questions have caused many conflicts between men and women throughout history and even today. Men often feel that women are inferior to them. Women often feel that they are quite equal to men and want more respect and opportunities. Personally, my place in this dispute is that men and women have strengths in different areas and it cannot be decided who is overall stronger than who. I believe that men are stronger physically and women are stronger mentally and emotionally. I developed this opinion through my own life experiences. It is unfortunate that this will be a never-ending dispute, as men and women both have strong valid opinions that cannot be changed.
Since the beginning of time, there have been "places" for men and women. Men are'supposed' to go out and work and bring in the money. Women are'supposed' to stay home to clean and take care of the children. These are old-fashioned standards that should be thrown away. Women may not be as physically capable as men are, but they can still hold jobs like a CEO of a corporation, a police officer, an FBI agent, even a position in politics. The same goes for men. They can be nurses, elementary school teachers, librarians, and anything else despite their "manliness" and apparent inferiority mentally and emotionally to that of women.
Antigone is a very powerful female character. She stands up for what she believes in, no matter what, and no man can stand in her way: "And I, whom no man's frown can frighten, am far from risking heaven's from by flouting these."
