Atticus Finch: Praise or Ponder

Ponder Hannah Schuman Mr.. Fritters PDP. 1 TO Kill a Mockingbird April 26, 201 1 “You never really understand someone until you consider things from his point Of view?until you climb into his skin and walk around in it. ” (Lee, 39). The character Of Tactics Finch has been greatly praised by many literary scholars. He was even nominated as one of the greatest characters in the past 100 years. Believe that Tactics deserves this praise without a doubt. He is incredibly humble, serene, and has an amazing moral sense of right and wrong.

The character of Tactics Finch from ‘To Kill a Mockingbird” deserves the utmost praise and attention, for everyone who reads this book can learn a lesson or two from one, Tactics Finch. “People in their right minds never take pride in their talents. ” Miss Maude tells Scout and Gem after Tactics shoots the mad dog, Tim Johnson (130). This is just one tooth things that shows how humble a man Tactics Finch really is. He had the best shot in all of Macomb County, but yet he never told his children. Scout and Gem never knew he was called One Shot.

Tactics never got to proud or full of himself, He never bragged about his job or money. He wanted them to love him regardless of his talents. In that process, he taught them to be humble as well. Being too full of yourself can only end in disaster. “l wish Bob Lowell would not chew tobacco. ” (291). This was all Tactics had to say after Bob Lowell spit in his face and told him he valued get him if it was the last thing he did. This is another tremendous quality of Tactics Finch. He is very serene. Tactics is always calm and never gets too worked up over anything.

He just lets life’s problems flow over him like a rock in a stream. Tactics never resorts to violence, and tries to pass that onto his children, especially Scout. Tactics once said, “Before can live with other folks, I’ve got to live with myself. The one thing that doesn’t’ abide by majority rule is a person’s conscience. ” (140). In this part of the story, Tactics is making Gem read to Mrs.. Dubos because he destroyed her flowers. Jeer had done shortening wrong, and therefore had a guilty conscience. Tactics had to have him make it right.

Probably one of the best loyalties Tactics possesses is his moral sense of right and wrong along with his conscience. Whenever something goes wrong, he will always make it right. Tactics makes sound decisions and will always do the right thing even if it the unpopular thing, For example, he took Tom Robinsons case even though he knew he would lose and that people would talk about him. Taut even knowing this, he still took the case because it was the right thing to do. If he hadn’t, he probably would not have been able to live with his guilty conscience.
