what is music

Music according to www.dictionary.com is, "The art of arranging sounds in time so as to produce a continuous, unified, and evocative composition, as through melody, harmony, rhythm, and timbre." Before a person can have music sound has to be made. Sound is made of vibration. A certain vibration will make a different sound according to have fast or slow the vibration is made. Sound has four properties pitch, duration, timbre, and intensity but without all four of properties sound cannot be made. Sound is made in waves consisting of peaks and valleys. Compression is the peak or valley of the sound wave. It is highest at the peak of the wave. Rarefaction is the area between each peak and valley. One complete cycle of compression and rarefaction is vibration. As a sound's pitch gets lower vibration gets slower and sound waves get larger. Frequency is the number of cycles occurring within a period of time. Nevertheless sound is just vibration with out someone to hear it.
