Biography:

Johannes Vilhelm Jensen, in Denmark always called Johannes V. Jensen, (January 20, 1873-November 25, 1950) was a Danish author, often considered the first great Danish writer of the 20th century. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1944. One of his sisters, Thit Jensen, was also a well-known writer and a very vocal, and occasionally controversial, early feminist.

He was born in Fars, a village in North Jutland, Denmark, as the son of a veterinary surgeon and he grew up in a rural environment. While studying medicine at the University of Copenhagen he worked as a writer to fund his studies. After 3 years of studying I chose to shift careers and devoted himself fully to literature.

Biography:

The author's childhood is marked by the absence of the father abandoned his family when Gabriela still wore pañales.En 1904 starts working as assistant professor in the School of Baja Company and begins to send contributions to the newspaper El Coquimbo La Serena , Chile. The following year he writes regularly in the newspaper mentioned above and in La Voz de Elqui of Vicuña. He studied at the Ecole Normale of Copiapo, Atacama current University of obtaining the title of Professor normal. Since 1908 is a teacher in the town of La Cantera and then in Los Cerrillos. As a teacher you loved the students and felt a duty to educate and teach. For her books were something sacred. Subsequently, in 1910, validates their studies at the Normal School No. 1 in Santiago and gets the official title of professor of State, awarded by the American Institute.

Biography:

Karl Hermann Hesse was born in Calw, which is located in Baden-Wurttemberg, where he spent the first three years of his life (until 1880) and three years of college (1886 to 1889).

In his youth made major trips to Italy and also by India, which would be decisive in many of the issues that are presented in their works. In India, his grandfather and his father had been missionaries. Their education was divided between Germany and Switzerland from 1881 to 1886, studied at a college of humanities, left two years later.

Biography:

Born in Paris, France, son of Paul Gide, a law professor at the University of Paris, who died in 1880. His uncle was the political economist Charles Gide. Raised in Normandy, with health problems and live virtually isolated, he became a prolific writer from an early age. In 1895, after the death of his mother Juliette Rondeax, he married his cousin Madeleine Rondeax, but the link was never consummated.

In 1891 he published his first poems, The Notebooks of André Walter (Les Cahiers d'Andre Walter). In 1893 and 1894 Gide traveled in North Africa. Befriended with Oscar Wilde in Algeria and later began to recognize their homosexual orientation. In 1896 he was mayor of La Roque-Baignard, a commune in Normandy.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, USA on September 26, 1888. His father, Henry Ware Eliot, was an important businessman, president and treasurer of the Hydraulic Press Brick Company of that city. His mother, Charlotte Champ Stearns, had literary interests, to publish a book.

Smith studied at the Academy of St. Louis from 1898 until 1905. Soon emphasized in all subjects, from Latin to physics.

In 1906 entered Harvard University, where he studied Greek, English literature, German, medieval history and art history.
